Overview
The Quick Sale tab is a table-less checkout flow for orders that don’t need a running bill: takeaway counters, coffee shops, bars, pastry cases, and anything paid on the spot. Layout is two columns:- Menu Browser on the left (categories, grid, or list — see Menu Browser).
- Quick Sale Ticket on the right (the cart).
The Quick Sale Ticket
Header shows the ticket name (Quick Sale Ticket) and a live item count. A Clear link on the top right empties the cart. Each line shows:- Quantity × item name
- Modifier chips in red (e.g.
Oat Milk +K5.00) - Custom notes in amber (e.g. “No onions”)
- Line total on the right
- Edit (pencil) and Remove (trash) buttons
- A ± quantity stepper below the line
Customer / Order Tag
Above the cart, there’s an optional Customer / Order Tag field (e.g.Table 4 / John). This label prints on the kitchen ticket and receipt so staff can call the order out. Tap Keypad to type with an on-screen keyboard, or use your device’s keyboard.
The Three Action Buttons
At the bottom of the cart, up to three buttons appear depending on whether your kitchen uses the Kitchen Display System (KDS) or paper kitchen printers.1. Preview Receipt (optional)
Opens the receipt preview with a Print & Charge Now action. Use this when the customer wants to see the total before you charge, or when you want to inspect the receipt layout before it prints.2. Send & Charge or Print & Charge (emerald, left button)
Which one appears depends on your kitchen setup:KDS is the recommended primary route — it’s real-time, cancellable, and shows prep timers. Kitchen printers are a fallback for kitchens without a screen. See Kitchen Display System and Kitchen Printers.
3. Charge Now (red, right button)
Charges immediately — no kitchen ticket at all. Use this for items that need no prep: water, bottled drinks, pastries in the display, retail items.Step by Step

Stock Status Pills
Every menu item in the Quick Sale browser shows a stock pill drawn from live inventory:
Some items also show a ~N left badge — the number of servings remaining based on ingredient recipes.
Inventory Override
If you tap a sold-out item, DishInk prompts for an Inventory Override: a manager PIN plus a written reason. The override is logged for the shift and clears at the next stock count.Tips & Best Practices
- Turn on KDS whenever possible. Real-time prep tracking, no lost tickets, no printer jams.
- Use the tag field liberally — even “Bald guy in blue shirt” is better than nothing when a coffee comes out and no one knows whose it is.
- Keep the Category view for menus with photos; switch to List when moving fast and you know the menu by heart.
- Train staff to use Charge Now for anything already made (bottles, pre-packed items) — it saves the kitchen team an unnecessary ticket.
Common Mistakes
- Charging Now on food that needs prep — the kitchen never gets the ticket. Look for the ChefHat / Printer icon on the left button when the customer ordered food.
- Forgetting to clear the customer tag between orders — the next order inherits it. Tap the × on the tag or Clear the cart.
- Adding a discount after Send & Charge — you can’t; the ticket has already left. Add discounts before you tap the emerald button.
