# Website Gallery

> Upload and manage the photo gallery shown on your public restaurant website.

The gallery is the photo section on your public website. Images you add here appear in the Gallery section of your home page. Go to **Front Operations → Website Gallery** to manage it.

## Uploading images

Click the upload area and select one or more images from your device. Supported formats are PNG and JPG up to 5 MB each.

Multiple images upload in parallel. Each image goes through two stages before appearing in the gallery:

* **Preparing** — the image is compressed to optimise load speed on your website
* **Uploading** — the compressed image is transferred to storage

A progress bar appears on each image tile while it processes. Once done, the image moves from the uploading section into the main gallery grid automatically.

<Note>
  Uploads continue in the background. You do not need to stay on this page — navigate away and come back; completed images will be in the gallery.
</Note>

### If an upload fails

A red error overlay appears on the failed tile with two buttons:

* **Retry** (↺) — attempts the upload again
* **Remove** (×) — discards the failed image

Check your internet connection before retrying. Multiple failures usually indicate a connectivity problem.

## Plan limits

| Plan       | Image limit |
| ---------- | ----------- |
| Starter    | 5 images    |
| Growth     | 20 images   |
| Growth Pro | Unlimited   |
| Enterprise | Unlimited   |

The header shows your current count against your limit (e.g. "7 / 20 images used"). When you reach the limit, the upload area is hidden and an upgrade banner appears.

## Deleting an image

Hover over any image in the gallery grid and click the red trash button that appears in the top-right corner. Confirm the prompt to delete permanently.

<Warning>
  Deleted images are removed from both the gallery and your storage permanently. This cannot be undone — reupload the image if you need it back.
</Warning>

## Permissions

Staff with `can_view_gallery` can see the gallery page. Staff with `can_manage_gallery` can upload and delete images. Without `can_manage_gallery`, the upload area is hidden and delete buttons don't appear — the page is read-only.

## Tips & best practices

<Tip>
  Upload landscape photos (wider than tall) for the best appearance in the gallery grid. Portrait photos work but may crop awkwardly depending on your website theme.
</Tip>

<Tip>
  Use real photos of your food and space — not stock images. Customers convert better when they can see the actual restaurant before visiting.
</Tip>

## Common mistakes

<Warning>
  Do not close the browser tab while images are uploading. The upload will be interrupted. Reopen the gallery page and retry the failed images.
