# PIN Login

> Fast 4–6 digit authentication for shared POS, Waiter, and KDS terminals.

PIN Login is the fast authentication method for cashiers, waiters, and kitchen staff on shared terminals — a 4–6 digit code that takes under 2 seconds to enter.

## Overview

* Every staff account has a unique PIN.
* PIN login is scoped to the physical terminal.
* Every action taken with a PIN is logged against that staff member.

## Set or change a PIN

</Frame>

<Note>
  PINs can be reset by any manager or administrator. Staff cannot see PINs — only reset.
</Note>

## Tips & best practices

<Tip>
  Enforce a policy that PINs cannot be sequential (1234) or repeated (0000). DishInk rejects the weakest patterns automatically.
</Tip>

## Common mistakes

<Warning>
  Never share PINs verbally or on paper. Every void, discount, and refund is logged against the PIN — shared PINs erase accountability.
