# Revenue Reports

> Gross sales, discounts, refunds, tax, and net revenue across any date range and branch.

Revenue Reports show gross sales, discounts, refunds, tax, and net revenue across any date range and branch.

## Overview

Key metrics:

| Metric          | Definition                              |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------- |
| **Gross sales** | Total sold before discounts and refunds |
| **Discounts**   | Sum of every discount applied           |
| **Refunds**     | Sum of refunded amounts                 |
| **Net revenue** | Gross – discounts – refunds             |
| **Tax**         | VAT or turnover tax collected           |
| **Tips**        | Optional; excluded from net revenue     |

## Tips & best practices

<Tip>
  Compare periods with matching operational conditions. Comparing a Friday to a Monday, or a rainy day to a public holiday, produces misleading conclusions.

## Common mistakes

<Warning>
  Do not treat gross sales as revenue. Discounts, refunds, and tax must be netted out for a true revenue figure.
